Welcome to Carnevil - Circus of Horrors.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well and having a fantastic week. It is just one video this week my other one has to be checked before I can upload it so I do apologise. My friend, Becky, took me to see a show called "The Circus of Horrors" with McIver as well (her partner), there is about 20-30 minutes of me waffling but I decided I would let the show speak for itself. I really thoroughly enjoyed it, I was not expecting anything that happened within the show, I just expected a normal circus so in that respect it was fantastic and I strongly recommend you go to see it. Enjoy this video guys and I will see you all next week, have a good week my lovelies.

Book of the Month (February 2016)

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well! I have a love and admiration for books, so much so that I've decided to start a "Book of the month" series, (sorry I missed half of January).
If you really enjoy this video please give it a like and then I'll create one each month; this month's choice was a 2014 novel by Lynda La Plante called "Twisted" I did mention it in my written blog, but I wanted to discuss it in a little bit more detail. I hope you enjoy it.

"Amy Fulford, excellent pupil and gifted athlete at a girls' public school in Ascot vanishes one Saturday afternoon.
DSI Marsh runs the local missing person unit. He is responsible for overseeing the disappearance of Amy Fulford. But, as a late joiner and with only ten years of service, and a bullish DCS on his back, he tends to be unsure of himself.
While the spiral of media interest in the missing daughter of a well-connected couple heats up, the spotlight turns on the parents who are embroiled in a bitter divorce."

Rub, Rub, Rub, Shower Scrub and Five Golden Rings Bubble Bar review.

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well and enjoying this exceptionally frosty January, which is the only month of the year that seems to drag its feet along like a stubborn child. It's OK, though, we have some lovely treats to warm up all the body parts and refresh you this season. I forgot to mention the wonders of two lush products in my last post, but rather than just add them on I felt a bit generous and so I've decided to give them their own special place; which wonders could this be you may ask? The "Rub, Rub, Rub" shower scrub and Five golden rings of course.

Rub, Rub, Rub, Shower Scrub. Price: £8.95 for 350g, £14.95 for 665g. Vegan-Friendly!
I received "Rub, Rub, Rub" as a very generous Christmas present from my mother and Phil, who thought I would need it in Egypt to remind them of the sea-side smell, just because I didn't return to Egypt does not mean I have not enjoyed the fragrance that this tub of joy has to offer.
Whilst offering the sea-side smell thanks to the use of Sea-salts, the product also offers a fine combination of a sweet and refreshing Jasmine, lemon, orange flower and mimosa oil to give it almost a fresh flower fragrance as well, surprisingly complimenting the sea-salts and perhaps taking the harsh fragrance of sea down a notch, leaving only a sweet and fresh air fragrance.
Whilst the sea-salts get to work at scrubbing away all the dead skin and nasty dirty that remains on the body, with the gentle, soothing powers of mimosa and the moisturising powers of Jasmine ensure that the skin is not left feeling damaged after the scrubbing session, in fact, working to calm and soothe any inflammation or irritation. This combination is what gives Rub, Rub, Rub it's magic power, which leaves the skin feeling smooth, fresh and smelling fantastic for hours whilst allowing the user to feel totally relaxed. Normally, I would not go into Lush looking out for a shower scrub product, but this may have convinced me to try their range as it was overall a product which did exactly what it said on the tin, it left my body feeling so relaxed, moisturised and relieved of any dirt or dead skin; Beautiful product.
Rating: 5/5.

Five Golden Rings (Christmas Range) £4.75 Vegan-Friendly.

Glitter lovers will love these little gems, unless like myself you only like a tiny sparkle in your bath. Personally, I loved these five little golden rings, I really felt as though I got more for my money because you could simply place one in the bath and it would be enough bubbles, at the same time, creating a mild scent and leaving your skin feeling soft, glittered and fully relaxed. "Five Golden rings" comes on a piece of string, which I ended up snapping because I found it quite hard to untie, but you won't all encounter this problem and was a special collection of five bubble bars for the Christmas season, obviously getting it's title from "twelve days of Christmas". At a price of only £4.75 for five bubble bars or five baths, it was total value for money. The smell of the product was not overly empowering and not as spicy as I imagined it to be so if you wished, you could totally combine it with a festive bath bomb. I did place two in my bathtub, which gave the bath a very bright yellow-golden colour. The small ounce of aroma which did come from these beautiful rings was one of a slightly vanilla and floral again, not very overpowering so it could be combined with other products. The Gardenia not only being the main ingredient smelt but in addition, to its fragrance, acting as an anti-inflammatory, soothing the skin of any redness or irritation, as well as offering stress relief, relieving insomnia and headaches. Working well with the vanilla which is also known for it's calming, moisturising and soothing qualities, the only problem I found with this product is just how much the glitter spread it really did get everywhere, all over my hands before placing in the bath originally. I don't recommend playing with it if you aren't going to have a bath unless you want to look like a sparkly fairy. Two of these created plenty of bubbles and even after one I pleasantly surprised by the number of bubbles there were, the product was not overly Christmassy but still fitted extremely well with the range and complimented many of the other products.

Thank you for reading my lovelies :) I'll see you all again soon!

Georgie's Birthday!!

Hello, Everyone!

"2 pints of ginger beer I haven't actually drank that much!"
*5 seconds later the truth comes out*
2 pints of ginger beer, a few sips of JD...Oh AND a glass of wine! I don't think that's too bad"
In my defence, it was a small 2 sips and I was pretty much sober! Just extremely tired.

I hope you are all well and enjoyed the first week of 2016.
Apologies for the late delivery of this vlog, I was having issues with my editor, so this is a video from Georgie's 21st Birthday on Saturday 2nd January, we spent the entire evening in Apple and Parrot, I clearly forgot how much I drank and I don't look too attractive towards the end of the video-deepest apologies.

Real Rock did a fantastic job and they were fantastic, my sound quality does them no justice.
I hope you enjoy the video :)

LUSH Review!

LUSH Products up for Review:
Volcano Foot Mask
Karma Bath Bar
Stardust Bath bomb
New Shampoo Bar
Bubblegum lip Scrub.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are well and having a fan-dabby-dosey day, I haven't done a LUSH cosmetics review in a while due to the fact there was none in Egypt, but since my return I have of course been to the Lush shop during their sales and picked up all the goodies I possibly could to treat myself this season. Some are the Christmas specials, which I hadn't had access to yet and others are all year round products, which we know and love.

Volcano Foot Mask Price: £6.75-Vegan Friendly!

After a hard day at work on your precious toes, there is sometimes nothing you want more than to soak your feet and relax, the Volcano foot mask offers just that and more. A blend of papaya, pumices, tomatoes, clay and potatoes can have many positive impacts on the skin and feet such as softening, removing dead skin cells, moisturises and deodorising the feet.
Papaya has been known for its qualities of vitamin A and papain, which are known to help remove dead skin cells, as well as the ability to help the healing process of cracked and sore heels. In combination with the qualities of grounded pumice stone, you can feel assured that your feet will be dead skin free and feeling soft, smooth and relaxed in a matter of 20 minutes. The china clay (also known as Kaolin) is the most gentle of all cosmetic clays, offering to assist dry skin without stripping the much-needed oils. Volcano foot mask is very kind to all skin types when gently washing it off my feet's previously hardened and the small amounts of dead skin were soon beautifully stripped away. The mask itself has a very strong, fire-like fragrance and my best recommendation in regards to making sure your foot mask doesn't spread everywhere is to place plastic bags on your feet, otherwise, bring a magazine or book with you to dangle your feet over the bathtub. However, although the product does fantastic wonders for the feet and heels, the size of the pot is only enough for two applications, which for the price I would like to have more than two sessions worth of foot mask; I would LOVE for a bigger tub to be available because seriously, I NEED A BIGGER TUB!
I am not normally a foot person and wouldn't normally go into the shop to hunt for things to take care of my feet, but this little beauty has become a necessity in my lush basket whenever I run low.
Rating 3/5. (because I want a bigger tub!)

Karma Bubble bar: Price-£4.25 Vegan-Friendly!

Karma's shimmery, beautiful pyramid of relaxation is a true gem and being far from Egypt it was a reminder of the home I made there (not just because it's a pyramid, it smelt like my home in 6th of October). The combination of lemongrass, patchouli oil, mango and orange oil leaves the soaking lushie feeling refreshed and renewed as the lemongrass oils sink into the skin. The smell rising in the steam works as an antidepressant, antiseptic and deodorant to leave you smelling "blooming lovely"; lemongrass has been known to improve self-esteem, mental strength and confidence. Whilst the orange oil contains the vitamin C, insecticide and sedative which allows your body to relax perfectly within the purple, glittering, bubble-topped bath. Karma was very crumbly after I originally just broke a small piece off, I don't enjoy too many bubbles in my bath but if you're addicted to bubbles, crumble the whole pyramid in and I promise you will be in for a treat; previously before I broke it, the bomb remained intact and was quite hard to break off.  This bath bar is perfect for those who like a little shimmer or glitter and need a long relaxation session at the end of the day. However, it did leave quite a mess in the bathtub afterwards due to how purple and glittery it was, I am not really 100% bothered by this as I always clean the bath afterwards. The smell was very strong and so if you enjoy or really need this relaxation aromatherapy then this bath bar will tick all your boxes. Alternatively, if you are looking for something with less bubble, I suggest if you really want it, simply break it up into smaller pieces; my skin after the use was left smelling fragrant for one whole day, which I find extremely impressive especially after sleeping and waking the next day.
Rating: 4/5

Stardust bath bomb. Price: £2 (sale) (Right)

Stardust's combination of vanilla, sea salt and rosewood leaves us with no surprises as to why this little star of wonder left the skin feeling soft and moisturised throughout the day. Placing this product straight in the bath, we could see the white beauty quickly turning into a light blue, which was fantastic and beautiful to see with the slight tinge of glitter; the smell was not overly powerful, but strong enough to enjoy the relaxing qualities of vanilla and rosewood.
The benefits of this lovely star are really felt as soon as you place your beautiful body into the waters, they literally offer you a milk-like hug; smooth and creamy so you can feel the real nourishment on the skin, the sea salt offering relaxation from muscle cramping, exfoliation and eliminating the roughness or inflammation in certain areas of the body, whilst the rosewood relaxes the mind, working as an anti-depressant. For the very small selection of festive goodies I grabbed from lush, this was one of my favourites because after relaxing in this bath, my skin felt so much smoother and softer to touch, the towel almost slid off. However, there was promised to be a certain amount of blue in the centre and as it dissolved in the bath, there was only towards the end slight hints of blue as oppose to all the way through, the bath water was left a baby blue colour as you could see from my Instagram post, but it still looked fantastic and this didn't ruin my experience with the bomb. Rating 5/5

New shampoo bar (Left) Price: £5.95 Vegan-Friendly!
New shampoo bar made its way over to Egypt with me after a recommendation from a Lush employee and I must say it has its perks. The cinnamon, peppermint, clove bud and rosemary infused circle provides the hair with essential oils it needs to help repair and grow, whilst exfoliating and soothing the scalp. Not 100% sure how to apply it the first time I purchased the product, so I would break a small amount of it off, rubbing it into my hair and scalp, which really did wonders and my scalp was very appreciative of this tender, love and care as the bead-like segments, exfoliated the scalp whilst the Rosemary and peppermint worked together to soothe the inflammation. Cinnamon within the product helps to keep hair on your head, preventing hair loss (although there is no solid evidence to prove this) whilst the rosemary helps to stimulate hair growth. Of course, as I was breaking bits off I lost some of the product in the breaking process and it was quite crumbly, but you can simply rub the product against your hands and then put the soap bubbles onto your head; personally, I wanted the exfoliation from the beads on my scalp because it felt fantastic. In regards to hair growth, during my time in Egypt the vitamin D from the Sun combined with this product, I feel helped my hair to grow quite quickly, remember it is important to have a trim once a month to help the hair grow alongside revealing it to vitamin D products and other growth-stimulating oils. Personally, I repurchased a second time to see whether it was the sun or the product that helped my hair growth, if you would like to see the results please let me know.
Rating 3/5

Bubblegum Lip scrub. Price: £5.50. -Vegan-Friendly.

Smooth, sweet and sugary lips can be found when using this humble treat, Bubblegum lip scrub is the perfect start to your lip makeup regime and should definitely be one to consider before applying the balm, stick or gloss. During the winter time my lips always become extremely cracked and rough with a very "I'm close to cracking" kind of texture, so I decided to try using a lip scrub before my balm and stick applications to soften the lips, allowing a smooth application and it probably was one of the best decisions I made. After two uses of bubblegum, I could already see the sugary scrub had taken away any dead skin whilst the Jojoba oil moisturised and rejuvenated my lips. No cuts, no cracked-rough feeling, just simple smooth lips which have been a massive benefit to the final look of lipstick and gloss seeing as before the cracks in the skin made the lipstick look very unflattering. I recommend using a clean finger for application, perhaps wetting it slightly beforehand so the sugars will stay on the finger and you can apply it easier, be sure to dab it off or as it says on the website "eat it off" afterwards, otherwise you will have sugar with your gloss. I will definitely be buying more lip scrubs in the near future.
Rating: 5/5.

Stop Motion "Get Ready with me"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2wu9h8AU74

Hello, Everyone!

I hope you are all well and welcome to 2016.
I have been really excited about this video and I am so pleased I finally get to share it with you all. This is my first real Makeup video and I figured why not combine it with some of my favourite things?
I decided to do my favourite sort of animation throughout the video, using stop motion. It was a very long process, I am not 100% sure on it, but I am a perfectionist so I may be more critical of my work than I should be.

Those of you who have read my blog know that I try my best to use cruelty-free and animal-friendly makeup, this is to the best of my knowledge and research, if you find any of these products MAY test on animals, please comment below and thank you in advance for alerting me. I am aware that Body Shop are owned by L'oreal, who tests on animals, however, they have guaranteed and remained cruelty-free since they were bought by the mother company :).

The music I have chosen is by one of my many FAVOURITE bands, Pianos become the teeth. The two songs selected are "Old Jaw" and "Repine" both are from their album "Keep you" which was released in 2014.
They are such an emotional post-hardcore rock sound, in their previous album before they were the same kind of feel, with a more screamo vibe, but they decided to sing and tone down slightly on "Keep you".
You can hear the emotion in his voice, in the instruments and this continues throughout the whole album, it is so so powerful and the words are incredible, I absolutely love it. They are an amazing band and I highly recommend you check them out.

Reading from 2015.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are well and I hope this festive season has treated you all well. Another year coming to an end and another load of books has flown into my hands, onto the shelf and for some, going from my hands straight into my heart, onto my favourites list and recommendation list. Some of you who know me well, know my adoration for books, in particular, fiction novels. I haven't read as much as I would have liked, but those books I didn't get to read will simply slide onto the reading list of 2016 and at the moment, I have been reading a lot of the "classic novels" such as To Kill a Mockingbird, Carrie, American psycho more so than I have many recent 2015 releases. I have however just picked the three favourites of 2015 that I have enjoyed reading.

2015 Read it list:
To kill a Mockingbird (a friend is borrowing it at present) by Harper Lee
Carrie by Stephen King
Twisted by Lynda La Plante

To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

The 1960 classic novel by Harper Lee has been adored and loved by many readers, after reading it this year I have a clear understanding as to why that is.
Our beloved narrator, Jean Louise "Scout" finch, takes us on an adventure, occurring during the Depression era (1933-1935), which explores the serious issues of gender and racial stereotypes, racial inequality and rape with an intriguing sense of warmth and innocence.
Scout Finch shows a lot of modernised wisdom, which practically mirrors that of her father, Atticus Finch and the issues of racial inequality are portrayed through these characters when Atticus Finch is asked to defend Tom Robinson, the man accused of raping a white woman, in a court of law. We can see Scout's concern for her father as we see that this is the case, which is causing him a lot of stress, in comparison to all other cases he has done. I felt that the use of a younger daughter within the story to ask all the politically incorrect questions presented the readers with the right amount of information whilst leaving some blanks for us to fill in, which I really enjoyed. I don't like everything always been explained to me in great details, I quite like books that leave a little of space for you to fill in your own interpretations and Harper Lee has done that really well in this classic tale. In addition to the consistent frustration, we feel with the racial inequality, the same can be said for the expectation of genders. We see that Scout's aunt has high expectations and desires for her to be "a lady" seeing as she is the lady of the house, however Scout would much rather be climbing trees with her brother, Jem, and their friend Dill, in her overalls than be seen in a dress making polite conversation with other female citizens.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and the exploration through the eyes of a young child when dealing with issues such as racial inequality and gender roles, for me the use of childhood innocence was a brilliant tool perhaps used deliberately by Lee to make the readers realise that (as MJ brilliantly sings!) it does not matter what nationality, religion, race, gender etc. you were born with because we are all still humans. The representation of the difficulties of this time period were also brilliantly explored and so for all of this, I would like to give To Kill a Mockingbird a rating of 5/5.

Carrie by Stephen King.
1974 dark, terror novel explores teenage issues of a bullied girl, Carrie White, from the fictional town of Chamberlain, Maine who possesses the extraordinary powers of telekinesis and lives with her extremist Christian mother. Carrie is one of the most frequently banned books from United State School libraries perhaps due to the way it encourages a brutal school slaughter as the best way to deal with bullies.
The novel was rescued by Stephen's wife Tabitha and changed his writing career, being the first book he had on published page. King structured the novel in a very interesting way, which I quite enjoyed, as well as using faux newspaper clippings, book references, magazine articles, letters and a book is written in the third person by the only character to have survived "Prom Night"-Sue Snell, ironically without Sue, Carrie would not have gone to prom in the first place. King has created a well-structured masterpiece, which compliments the story well and worked with the historical-yet-set-in-the-future time frame perfectly.
The fanatic extremism of Carrie's mother was an interesting portrayal of King's, which opened my mind to an extremism I never really saw or understood before; her mother's whole fixation on the Lord and saviour, in contrast, causes her to commit a multiple of sins. From my understanding of the basics of the Christian religion, there is spreading the lord's word then there is forcing your daughter in a cupboard to pray because she wants to go to prom like a normal teenager. There is this thin line which king explores, we see Carrie's mother discuss the "devil's work" and how Carrie will burn for her sins of "lust" etc. and perhaps, a deep regret that she feels from not remaining a virgin, as she see's carrie as a mistake because "the devil tempted and seduced her". Yet, it seems that she is making Carrie pay for the guilt she feels for having sex and I feel this is because Carrie serves as a reminder. Her mother makes it seem as though she is looking out for her daughter, in the hopes she'll learn from her mistakes.
Carrie's prom night and the build up towards this event, is the main highlight throughout the book especially with the scene where she kills her mother as well as all of her classmates in a blinding rage. King has yet again proven he is the "King" (see what I did there) of horror and suspense novels, perhaps the publishing equivalent of Alfred Hitchcock. The novels interesting structure of fake clippings and written in third person from a survivor of the prom night depicts an interesting, more study based feel of the events that happened that evening and the power of telekinesis, the relationship between Carrie and her mother only adds to the tale, but it puts the readers in a difficult position between understanding why Carrie finally went out on rage and the morals of the readers, who probably feel this is not an acceptable way to deal with bullying or abuse, although it does play on our minds. I rate this novel 5/5.

Twisted by Lynda LaPlante.

Twisted by Lynda LaPlante is without a doubt, one of my favourite novels this year, exploring mental health, missing persons, relationships be it bi-sexual, heterosexual or homosexual and exploring the law enforcement, this novel has everything in it on a rollercoaster of a ride where every twist and turn keeps you continuously second guessing what you first thought.
When Amy is not heard from or seen in four days, her mother Lena knows that something is not quite right, she always calls after a sleepover at her friends, to let her mother know she's arrived back at boarding school. The missing person's case quickly takes shifts and turns, as Detective Reid has never worked on a case like it before, the third-person psychological suspense is something I strongly recommend reading.
This was the first Lynda La Plante book I had read and it definitely motivated me to read another one, "Prime suspect" is now sitting on the shelf, Twisted was such a well-written book which allowed the readers to dwell into the minds of all characters, sometimes offering up information which one readers knew about causing great frustration but also enticing them to read on. Of course, that is a standard expectation of a crime suspense, but with the exploration as two of the characters have mental health concerns as well as difficulties within the law enforcement team, it just adds to the tension within the novel.
I'm going to give this a short review because you need to read it as there are so many things I can explore, but each one will spoil the novel.  YOU NEED TO READ IT being the main words here.
I rate this book 5/5

Thank you for reading, if you enjoyed my novel reviews and would like to see more of them please do not hesitate to let me know guys, your feedback is crucial to your enjoyment of the content on my blogs. Thank you again and have a lovely day all of you!
